Creative Skillset Retouching Advice

All the following is gathered via creativeskillset.org.

What I need to work on:
Understand ?Geometric Ratios?
Need to Learn Quark - software, this will be something easier for me being a fast learner though technology.

The Digital Imaging Specialist's role involves colour correction and digital manipulation of images for printing or archiving. The images are sourced from scanned film or prints, or from digital originals. These I can already to BUT manipulation of images is something that will always needs improving, my archiving has been improving over the year.

The work is largely technical and pay rates are moderate, however, the work is stable and employees enjoy the benefits of regular pay, holidays and other benefits such as a pension plan.
Pay is important if I get to a level where I can work for the best fashion photographers for example Nick Knight, pay wouldn't so bad, I enjoy doing technical work so this option as a career is looking very possible.

You could move into a Digital Imaging Specialist role following previous experience as a film processing technician, photographic printer or print finisher. However, many colleges now offer NVQ and SVQ qualifications in Digital Imaging so you could secure a position directly from college, without previous laboratory experience.
I feel my BA in photography will be ok but at the end of the day as long as my retouching is the best it can be and continue to evolve I wont have a problem getting a job.
